What Are You Learning?

Hi everyone!

I had no idea what to write this week. I usually have an idea of what direction I am going for the blog. Not the case this week. It’s been a busier week and I dove head first into an audible reading app that zapped my brain! I drove to OKC to celebrate my nephew’s first birthday the night before this is supposed to post. When I walked into the house, I told my mom, “I have to start writing but I have NO idea what to write.” My eight-year-old so preciously said, “I’ll write it for you, Mom!” Sweetest ever. With no other ideas I decided that we would go for it and try. Hadlee excitedly got right to work. I asked her to write about what God is teaching her and to write her favorite Bible verse. Landree jumped in on it too and since I was with my mom and sister, I asked them to also write. These are the ladies in my life and what God is doing in them. I left these unedited.

“Hello, my name is Hadlee Martin Tiffany’s daughter and today I get to write on the blog! Hope you like it! Today I am writing about what I did at school in the afternoon. First we took quite a few tests he he. Then we had to practice on typing.com it’s how we learn to type fast. Then we have first indoor recess. Then we watched an illustration on Martin Luther King Jr. Then to social study’s. And to end on a note of my favorite verse and what God is teaching me. My favorite verse: ROMANS 6:23, and what God is teaching me is: HOW TO UNCOVER MY SHADOW. And to uncover my shadow in explanation is: I HAVE A TEMPER SO GOD IS HELPING ME COME OUT.”

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord,” (Romans 6:23 NIV).

So stinking powerful! God is pulling my baby out of the shadows. She is fierce and wonderful. She laughs loud and plays hard. She is smart and silly and I love her so much.

I asked Landree questions because she can not type yet.

What is your favorite thing to do? “Go out sledding.”

Who is your favorite person? “Maddie, my bestie.”

What did you do today? “Go to church for a long time, watched the Ipad (Kindle), pick up sissy, and go here (OKC).”

What is God teaching you? “Helping people and being nice and playing with my toys.”

What is your favorite Bible verse? James 1:22

What do you want to tell people? “They need to love people, know people, say ‘I love you’, and play.”

Anything else you want to say? “We can do what we are told.”

Quoting her favorite scripture.

She has some pretty great advice if I say so myself! She is wise beyond her years and has a pure, innocent heart. She thinks about other people before herself and lights up whatever room she is in.

Hannah & Annette

Hannah

“Hello, my name is Hannah Haben and I am Tiff’s sister!!! I am 18 years old and currently in college for nursing and sometimes feel like this career is not what God has called me to pursue. God is teaching me to trust in him even in the unknown. My favorite scripture at the moment is Proverbs 3:6.”

“Seek God’s will in all that you do and he will direct your path,” (Proverbs 3:6 NLT).

I was 14 when Hannah was born. I never wanted to have kids until my parents were had her. She rocked my world. I gave my heart to the Lord two months before she was born. Obviously I was responding to my need for Christ but I have always known that I also wanted to be a good example to her. This girl has so much wonderful life ahead of her. She will end up exactly where God wants her. She is gorgeous and smart and I am beyond proud of the lady she is.

Annette

“Hello, my name is Annette, and I’m Tiff’s mom.  I am 55 years old, and God is teaching me to appreciate the struggle.  The struggle of the caterpillar is what enables them to become a butterfly—same thing with the pearl—without the friction, there would be no jewel.  My favorite Bible verse is 1 Peter 5:10.”

“After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen, and establish you,” (1 Peter 5:10 NASB).

My mom is amazing! She has been through a lot. Her parents weren’t warm and loving to her and yet she has found a way to become those exact things: warm and loving. She excels at everything she does. She went to college for the first time in her forties and made straight A’s. She is fun and smart and wonderful.

Tiffany (Me)

My family is pretty sweet aren’t they? Thank you for reading about (some of) the special ladies in my life. God is teaching me to to be careful about what I think about-to choose to be thankful. If you have been around for a while, you know that I talk a lot about the power of our thoughts in my posts. I am trying to be intentional to not allow my feelings to boss me around. I get to decide how my day goes, not my circumstances or feelings. I am exceptionally blessed and beyond thankful. My favorite verse is John 3:30.

“He must become greater; I must become less,” (John 3:30 NIV).

I love how this post turned out. It was definitely not planned but I think it worked out the way that it was supposed to. It’s so easy to miss what God is doing in our lives. If my four and eight year olds can articulate what God is teaching them, then you can too. Regardless of what you’re facing, I hope you can see that God is ever present.

What are you learning right now?
